A Special Thank You to our 2024 Chairperson Tony Fucinaro and MCL, Bass & Bourbon's Title Sponsor. A Campership Certificate was awarded in Tony's name for a Scout to attend a MAC Scouting camp at no cost this summer!
Tom Tom's Guide Service, based in Yutan, Nebraska supports Scouting and our Bass & Bourbon Special Event every year! Captains Tom, Jeremy and Matt offer pro advice for our guest anglers, plus the luxury of cruising the lake in modern fishing boats with cool and snazzy gear!
Rich Weiss of Sonburst won First Place for wrangling in the largest bass at 20 inches. His prizes included a bottle of select private barrel Jack Daniel's whiskey, a seafood dinner at Spezia, and a wooden largest bass plaque!
Daniel Leddy & Maxwell Crawford of Kutak Rock won Second Place for catching the most fish: 20 count! Dan and Max received Goldfish Crackers in bulk, Cabela's gift cards and the multi-wooden fish award!
Mike Britten of Allied, Mark Kidder or MCL and Rich Hazuka of Fluid Mechanical tied for "Unlucky Angler." Zero bites, lost lures and entanglement in trees or other objects earned this rank! Ryan Pickett, Scouting's Director of Development, awarded the prizes: Bowling Certificate, Wooden Bobbers and Jack Daniel's whiskey!
Anglers shared a lot of laughs over the "mini-catch" of the day; a 2-inch fish smaller than the size of a wallet!
The beer 'n band-aid concierge boat had perfect timing to capture this photo of AJ of MCL snaring a catch!
Chefs Bart & Noah prepared our smoked BBQ meals. This duo camps overnight every year to cook amazing fare for this event! After smoking meats for over a dozen hours, guests were served smoked breakfast sandwiches, smoked cream cheese, smoked pulled pork, smoked corned beef and brisket with homemade Carolina Sauce. Spicy beans, delicious slaw, and desserts too! A special thanks to Omaha Steaks for donating the meat.
After three hours tournament-ing out on the lake, anglers arrive on shore to enjoy cigars, appetizers and adult beverages.
Kyle Kern of River Life Airboat Tours spoke about his company based in Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska. Groups can airboat on the Platte River at Kyle's location, or take a ride on his airboat when he hosts a station at our Scout Clay Shoot Outing Thursday September 5, 2024 this fall at Werner Fields. Kyle will man one of the 14 stops as a refreshing break during the shoot circuit. Kyle has been interested in airboats since the sixth grade!
Joel Lavelle of Proof Whiskey Bar & Craft Cocktails presented a Bourbon Tasting. The five samples included: Elijah Craig Single Barrel Kentucky Straight, WhistlePig Estate Oak Rye, Garrison Brothers Guadalupe Texas Straight, Garrison Brothers Balmorhea Texas Straight and Barrell Bourbon Single Barrel. Joel taught the group how to single-nostril sniff, rub the liquor in the palms of hands, sip and discern the char & flavors. Joel shared historical stories, travelling encounters and how he shops for selections when stocking his bars. Joel's Proof Whiskey Bar at the Midtown Crossing location in Omaha will host a bourbon tasting with Andrea of Revela as a Scout benefit on August 13, 2024 called Women Who Whiskey!
